August Wrap Up //2020

I didn’t make a tbr for August but I decided I’d just choose my book based on my mood, and maybe choose from my birthday books. As it turns out, I was in a reading slump for about half of the month. My reading rhythm really slowed but I’m definitely back now and out of the slump. My blogging also suffered a bit, I didn’t really engage with the community much…

But some great stuff happened this month as well. I finally got Animal Crossing and it’s been so much fun! I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen in forever, went to the beach, went to the gym regularly, and spent some quality time with my family. Also, I created a bookish twitter account – dragonspaprbak, and it’s been fun.

What I Read:

My first book of the month was The Grace Year by Kim Liggett (a reread for me) and it just pulled me into the story immediately and I loved it as much as the first time. The Farm by Joanne Ramos was also a very interesting read, though not a new favorite and the Elemental’s Trilogy by Amie Kaufman was just what I needed: fun, quick and wholesome middle grade fantasy. I’m also so glad to have finally read Dev1at3 by Jay Krsitoff (which I mostly read at the beach) and it was always so freaking unpredictable, fun and unique.

And I am currently reading Watership Down by Richard Addams and I’m very surprised at how much I’m enjoying a 600+ page children’s books about rabbits.

Ebooks:

  • (ARC) There Are Things I can’t Tell You – Edako Mofumofu ⭐⭐⭐.5 [review]
  • Battle Born – Amie Kaufman ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • American Royals – Katharine McGee ⭐⭐⭐
  • (ARC) Majesty – Katharine McGee ⭐⭐⭐⭐

*In no particular order, here are some of the posts I loved this month (for several reasons like I might love the books mentioned, or think it’s an important topic, or what this person wrote just really resonated with me..).

Also, like I mentioned earlier I barely engaged this month so if you’re one of the authors mentioned below and you noticed I didn’t comment or interact much with you this month than I’m sorry I was such a shit this month, but I truly appreciated your post!

  1. Yes! For conquering the reading slump! September is promising to be a great reading month. Do you know already what books you’ll be reading?

Seeing you rereading the Grace Year made me want to do the same thing. Back in April, I listened to the audiobook, but I feel like I’ll love reading it much more. Besides, it’s such a beautiful book and I don’t think I have any rose books on my shelves.

    1. You def should! Slumps are the worst, I’m glad it’s over!
I do have a vague idea and a tbr post coming soon but at the same time I’m doubting some. Def some new releases like Blood & Honey, Cemetery Boys, and The Other Side of the Sky, and I need to read a couple of arcs as well. Other than that I have some thoughts but it will mostly be chill.

  2. Ahh, I also just stopped blog hopping? I think I felt a little bit lost, also posting less than in my previous months, but I have been reading some posts now and I have been loving being back in the community!
Hope you have a great September! ✨
